Be careful sending fishermen or explorers into the 
wilderness. Send troops as scouts instead. 

Build your resource users close to your resource 
collectors in order to get a jump start on your economy; 
for example, build smithies close to mines. 

After you've built foundations, tweak your diggers into 
carriers when most of the grunt work is done. 
This will improve their speed.
