YGGDRASIL
A
new Journal Entry has been unlocked for you to read.

The start of Yggdrasil
Before
Exiting first inspect the entire Exit platform. In the right corner by the
banister (seen when facing the Exit) there is a Health Potion to take.
On the left side in the opposite corner to the banister there is a rounded jar
containing your final Treasure in this level: #30.

The Health Potion on your right

The rounded jar on your left

Turn around towards the Exit and notice a fourth strange interactive Rune on the stone frame of the Exit.

The fourth “strange” Rune
You
still don’t know what these Runes are for and – especially – why they have
to be activated!
Moreover, remember when you were walking on the narrow column above the pool
there was a blue sign appearing on top of the screen? That means there was a
grapple ring somewhere above that you did not use. On second thoughts all of
this
needs to be investigated before leaving the pool area.
Activate the fourth Rune.

Press yellow to touch

The Rune is activated and glowing
electric blue
Nothing
is happening whereas you’ve activated all four Runes. Perhaps they only glow
for a certain time? Return to the spot where you activated the third Rune and
find out if it is still glowing.
You can see it from the left corner of the central extension of the ledge.
It’s hard to see if it is glowing or not.

Is it still glowing?
Take
a running jump to the pillar and slide down to the ledge with a little damage
done.

A running jump from the corner to the pillar

Slide down to the ledge
The
third Rune is not activated any longer!

The Rune needs to be reactivated
Return
to the Exit ledge the same way like you did before (along the angled narrow
column) and find out if the first is still glowing. It does.
So obviously the activation of the Runes is on a timed base. This suggests a
timed run in opposite direction from the fourth Rune here by the Exit to the first Rune
by the Entrance whilst activating them one by one again.
Run to the other corner of the protruding ledge and look up in the direction of
the waterfall. A grapple ring is hanging from a high beam

The grapple ring hanging from a high beam
If
you’re heading for a timed run to the first Rune passing the third and second
Runes you’ll have to remember the way to the Entrance by heart. It’s a
simple backtrack without the side excursions to get some goodies. So first
exercise on the way back before attempting the timed run.
The fourth Rune is still glowing, so return to the third Rune you just went to
by sliding from the pillar and activate it.
When you drop into the water you’ll die and return to the Exit. Then you will
see that the fourth has extinguished. Re-activate and start over. Return to the
third Rune like you just did and activate it. Then jump to the ledge on your
right.

Activate the third Rune

Jump to the ledge on your right
Climb
the narrow column fast by tapping yellow (interact) repeatedly until you perch
on it and face the opposite ledge which I will call the central ledge. Notice there is a narrow column standing in the pool
behind the ledge. Jump to the ledge and pull up.

Climb the narrow column fast and perch on it

Jump to the ledge and pull up
This
is your first tricky jump: you have to jump to the narrow column behind the
ledge but you don’t see it from here. If you walk forward you will see it but
miss the jump to the column (you’ll end up too far and plunge into the pool
– and die). So you have to jump forward from the spot where you pulled up to
the ledge. Jump forward and land on top of the narrow column.

Perch on the column after the correct jump
Then
comes your second and most tricky jump: to the edge of the narrow wall. If you
jump to the left part you’ll end up in the pool behind it because the wall is
closer than you think. So aim at the middle part and jump forward. Then shimmy
to the far right. Prepare a backward jump to the short narrow column in the
water behind Lara.

Shimmy right and prepare a backward
jump
Jump
to the narrow column and from there to the low ledge you saw on your right. This
is the ledge under the Entrance ledge. Turn right

Jump to the short column and perch on it

Jump to the ledge and turn right
Jump
to the horizontal narrow column over the pool. Don’t walk but jump your way
forward to speed up to the ledge with the second Rune. Activate it.

Jump further along the column

Arrive at the ledge and activate the
second Rune
Return
to the previous ledge by jumping over the horizontal column. Climb the tall
narrow column speeding up by repeatedly tapping yellow (interact) until you
perch on it facing the Entrance ledge.

Jump your way back to the previous ledge

Climb the narrow column
Jump
to the Entrance ledge, sprint (+ LB) to the left side of the Entrance frame and
activate the first Rune.

Jump to the Entrance ledge

Activate the first Rune
Return
to the central ledge: Sprint to the
right corner of the protruding ledge and jump back to the top of the narrow
column you just came from. This is your third tricky jump if you’re hurrying
up like you should.
[NOTE: alternatively you may also sprint to the edge of the protruding ledge,
hang from it and drop to the lower ledge. Turn around and jump to the short
narrow column and from there to the narrow wall].
Jump to the narrow wall and shimmy all the way left until you are hanging from
the corner. Prepare a backward jump to the tall narrow column behind Lara.

Jump from the corner to the column

Next jump: to the narrow wall

backwards and perch on the narrow column facing the central ledge. Jump to the
ledge and turn right.

ledge
If
you didn’t make your run on time you will still see the waterfall. If you were
fast enough there won’t be a waterfall (for a while).
If the waterfall isn’t there grapple on the ring and jump forward. Build up
momentum by swinging back and forth and when having reached enough altitude jump
to the alcove high up in the opposite rounded wall. Pull up and take the Relic
of this Level – your final Relic.

Grapple on the ring and swing to the alcove

Pull up and take the Relic
Since
Lara has collected all relics she now has obtained a maximal Health meter which
will prove useful with the coming end battles.
You have to return to the Exit. The waterfall is permanently dry now. Normally
you should grapple on the ring again from the alcove and swing to the central
ledge, but this jump is tricky and you will end up into the pool anyway. So
better drop dead into the pool and resurrect at the Exit with your Relic in the
pocket: check your PDA, it’s still there.

You still have your Relic
Now
it’s about time to leave the pool room through the Exit.

Leave through the Exit
Follow the passage until the first 4-way intersection. Straightforward is a dead end blocked by fallen rocks. Turn right and notice a Health Potion before the rock obstruction. Take the Potion.

The 1st intersection

A Health potion in the right dead end
Continue
left from the stairs at which point the passage turns right. Stop here because
the stairs going down are broken. Down at the end of the passage you can already
spot a Zombie. When you’re nearing the edge the Zombie will notice Lara and
run towards her. Blast him away with your best friend Mjolnir.
Soon there will appear 3 more Zombies one by one. Treat them likewise.

From the first staircase

Stay at the edge and wait for the
Zombies to attack

Blast them off one by one
Proceed to slide down from the broken staircase (Autosave ping). Continue to the 2nd intersection.

Slide down

The 2nd intersection
The
straightforward and right passages are dead ends blocked by rock obstructions,
so turn left. You can hear a growling sound coming from the left passage. Turn
left and meet a whole army of Yeti’s and Zombies waiting for Lara at the far
end. Since they are approaching by packs of 1 to 3 you can easily knock them
down one by one with the fire bolts of the Hammer. It will take a long time
though. Zombies need one blast but a Yeti usually can take 3 to 4 before they go
to pieces.

Get an endless number of Zombies and Yeti’s down from here
When
you finished off all of them continue past the battlefield mess of the passage
until you reach the 3rd intersection. Straightforward and left are
dead ends. Turn left and notice a Health Potion in front of the obstruction.
Pick it up.

The remnants of a whole army defeated by Lara Croft

The 3rd intersection

A Health Potion on your left
Continue right from the stairs towards the light. A long Cut Scene will then start where Lara enters the room with a pool and a waterfall where a miserable looking hunched creature is facing the pool.

Mother? It’s me. It’s Lara
The
woman turns around and shows her real face: she became a Zombie!

No...
No, no,
no...
My mother is dead
The
Zombie approaches Lara while she’s drawing her Pistols.
My
mother died a long time ago. You’re not my mother.
Lara
shoots the Mother/Zombie into the pool.

Lara feels sad about this...

The Zombie is pushed into the pool
Lara
collapses on her knees. A voice behind her speaks:

I lived many times longer than your
entire civilization...
...and I’ve never seen such delicious irony.
It’s
that Natla bitch who returned and now reveals her entire diabolic setup:
When
I heard what happened to the wife of the great Richard Croft, I knew I could set
him on a desperate quest to find what I desired most.
Then he betrayed me in
But when you showed up with Thor’s Gauntlet, I knew I could send you off in
your father’s footsteps, confident they would lead us to this very spot.
When
Lara hears this horrible story she is almost crying but then she stands up and
her grief turns into anger:
You
seem to have forgotten what I would be holding.
She
draws the Hammer Mjolnir but suddenly Natla’s puppet shows up: Amanda’s
artificial doppelganger. She takes the Hammer out of Lara’s hand, throws it
away and holds her in a tight grip.

Natla: When I made this creature for
Amanda...
...she had no idea that my true purpose was to have the means to destroy you at
this very moment. The two of you never suspected that you were mere actors in my
play. And so it ends. Now, if you’ll excuse me, I have a serpent to raise.
Natla
intends to leave but Lara frees herself from the doppelganger’s grip throwing
her on the floor and draws her pistols to shoot Natla.
But the creature attacks Lara again, hits her with great power and chokes
her.

Lara wants to shoot Natla

She can’t fight the creature’s
power
But
suddenly a fourth person grabs the creature by the hand and throws her into the
pool. It is Amanda herself who appeared form a newly opened door!

Amanda throws her doppelganger into the acid pool
Her
hands are glowing red by a mysterious power.
Lara: Amanda?

Trust me, I wanted to let it finish
you off...
But
the Midgard Serpent will tear the world apart, and only Thor’s Hammer can stop
it!

Go! I’ll hold them off!
When
the Cut Scene ends, immediately two Zombies attack Lara. She has already quickly
taken the Hammer that the
doppelganger forgot on the floor and you have to blast them into pieces.

Hammer them into bones fast
Follow
the new passage to the 1st intersection. Straightforward is a dead
end and the way on your right is obstructed too but you can see a Health Potion
lying there. From the left a horrible growling is heard. Look around the left
corner and see there is a Yeti waiting for Lara but he won’t see her from
behind the corner.

The Health potion on your right

The Yeti waiting on your left
Turn
left first and finish off the Yeti with a few Hammer blasts. After this fine job
turn around and pick up the Health Potion.

Get the Yeti out of your way

Pick up the Health Potion
Continue
from where the Yeti was standing and stop before a broken staircase that has
turned into a slope going down to narrow pool of blue goo. Slide down and at the
end jump to the ledge past the pool.

Slide down

Jump to the ledge
Continue
to the 2nd intersection and stop. Straightforward and left are dead
ends. Again there is a Yeti growling from the right. Slowly walk to the
intersection along the left wall until he attacks. You know what to do with the
Hammer.

The 2nd intersection

The attack of the Yeti
Continue
to the right until you see the Entrance to a huge exotic room with waterfalls
and strange constructions. Hear an Autosave ping.

Overlook the room
Hang
down from the ledge and let go the floor. Continue from the stairs into the
room. Natla is standing higher up on a platform.

Hang from the ledge and drop to the floor

Continue down the stairs
Proceed
on the walkway until a Cut Scene starts:

Lara approaches Natla
She
draws her Hammer and throws a lightning bolt at Natla:

Shut it down!
Natla:
Lara! Unexpected, but I’m glad you’re
here. You should be allowed to see firsthand the fruits of your labor.
Lara: That’s the Midgard Serpent?
Natla: Of course not. Jorgmundar is
the network of tectonic ridges that encircles the earth on the ocean floor. And
we stand on its weakest point, where the ancient supercontinent Pangaea first
broke in two.
When
this Relic unleashes its fury below, the very seams of the planet will burst.
“The Midgard Serpent will rise up and spew poison into the air, and all the
world will be consumed by fire and ash.”

Ragnarok! The Seventh Age is upon us!
When
Natla shouts these words in mad triumph the whole construction starts rattling
and shaking. Parts tumble down.

The whole structure is set in motion
Then
Natla sends a fireball at Lara but she can evade the collision by tumbling down.

Lara can evade Natla’s fireball

But she’s on her own now
