Level 2:
COASTAL THAILAND

Sublevel 3:
THE ANCIENT WORLD

After having killed about a hundred of spiders coming out of the square opening hang down from the front edge. Dow below there is a narrow ledge (very deep). Drop down and press B1 to hang from both hands. Then let go to the lower narrow ledge.

Hang from the front edge

Let go to the lower narrow ledge hanging from 1 hand

Press B1 to hang from both hands

Drop to the lower narrow ledge

Underneath the ceiling you notice a golden ring hanging from there. Drop down and immediately grapple on this ring. Let go to the floor.

Immediately grapple on the ring

In front of you between two protruding walls there is square block decorated with a Skull. Approach the block.

Approach this block

Cut Scene: Lara wants to take something from her backpack an electric blue fire will fill Lara’s left hand: the Gauntlet of Thor. She will touch the block with the Gauntlet: the Runes start shining electric blue like the Gauntlet and two giant doors will open for a few seconds and close again.

Lara explores her backpack...

and gets the Gauntlet of Thor

I can see where the rumors of Thor’s godlike strength come from.
Then a yellow hand will appear so press B1 and Lara will touch the doors. The blue Runes will shine more.  Press B1 to touch the doors with both hands and press LAS left to open the doors.

Touch the doors again

LAS left will open them

Press B1 to release the left door and enter the newly accessible area beyond the doors. A bunch of spiders will attack, so prepare to use your pistols.
From here on certain walls will light up electric blue when you touch them with the Gauntlet. The magic will vanish when you leave this place, so stay inside until your job is finished in there!
Proceed to the walkway leading to a tree on a round platform. About the middle of the walkway look all around the hall.

Run along the walkway

Stop here and look all around

This hall is a dome-shaped cylinder with a cylindrical pillar in the middle on which you see a small tree and a pedestal. The ceiling is covered by the branches of an enormous tree.
There are three bands of ledges with broken parts that surround the hull of the cylinder. The walkway is connected with the central cylinder.
Now this whole structure: central cylinder and the walkway are constituting a rotating mechanism. The purpose is to rotate the set into different positions in order to find openings that lead to hidden goodies. Nothing more than that, besides exiting the place.

Look down from the walkway where you see a golden ring hanging from the side. Remember this ring. Lower down there is an enormous deep pit.
You also see that the central cylinder goes all the way down but it has a polygonal ledge in between that goes around it – although you can see broken parts in there too.

A ring hanging form the side wall of the walkway

The central cylinder with its lower ledge around it

Go to the left side of the walkway. There is a ring hanging on the wall there too. Then there is this giant statue standing going to the bottom of the pit.
Then look left and slightly on your right notice a golden ring on a wall with runes.
Grapple on the ring and jump to the wall hanging from the cable. Let go to the ledge below and turn right to find your 26th Treasure.

Grapple on the ring

Jump to the wall and let go

Your 26th Treasure found on the ledge down below

Return the same way by grappling on the ring above and when almost there swing left to reach the walkway automatically again. (Be careful to stand on the correct place because there is a second golden ring to the left.)

Climb up to the ring again

Swing left to the walkway

Proceed to the tree on the top of the central cylinder and observe the mysterious Statue. Then a Cut Scene will start.

This was long before the upper Temple was added

Turning around she notices Proto-Norse Runes again

Lara takes the camera in here hand:

My son, your treasures here and far – this Gauntlet’s twin, your belt, Megingjord, and the mighty Mjolnir – are protected by the dead to keep Jórmungandr subdued.
But the map’s been destroyed, and recently.
Turning to the pedestal:
If one of Thor’s Gauntlets was here, it’s gone now.

What’s this?

Lara reads a sentence written on the pedestal

Natla – I see your goal and am your puppet no longer – Richard James Croft”
Lara turns to the Runes again: Father did this. “RJC...
Strange... Father never used his middle initial in monograms to avoid confusion with his father...
That’s where you hid the Artifact. You sly old fox.
Now if I can just make it back to the boat
...

On the other side of the gap you see another block with a Skull and an exit.
Facing this Skull, walk straight and hang from the edge. Drop down to narrow ledges 6 times. On the 5th drop you will hear the chime announcing a Treasure. Drop down the lowest ledge and see the yellow hand on top.

Hang from the ledge

Drop down 6 times to the lower narrow band

When you press B1 the camera will turn all the way up until you see the wall of the walkway turning electric blue. Lara will then touch the pillar side with the blue Runes with both hands.

The camera shows the wall of the walkway and the ring hanging from it

Press LAS right to rotate the pillar as far as you can (90 degrees).

Start the rotation

Final position

Then let go and return left into the opening revealed by the rotation. Here you find Treasure #27.

The opening that contains Treasure #27

Exit the opening and turn right. Jump across the broken part of the ledge. Go to the end wall (that is the side wall of the walkway) where a blue “Q” for a grapple ring will appear. Look up left to see the ring I took your attention to before.
Grapple on the ring and hang against the wall. Swing left/right and jump to the left ledge.
Look left to see the curved ledge that ends by the edge of a gap.

The curved ledge ends at a gap

Turn around and approach the wall with the blue Runes and notice the yellow hand appearing, meaning it is moveable. Press B1 to hold your hands against the wall. You have to position the walkway such that the wall is at the end of the gap. In order to do that you have to pull it first and somewhere between two supporting beams stop and slip around from where you can push it all the way to the end of the gap.

Pulling first

Running to the other side

And then pushing until the end

Let go, look upward and see the grapple ring on the side of the walkway’s wall.
Grapple on the ring, jump to wall swing left/right/left and let go to the central cylinder’s lower ledge again.

Look up at the grapple ring on the wall

Your second swing to the left

Let go at the highest point

Land on the lower ledge of the central cylinder

Go left and jump across the gap.

Jump across the gap on your left

Turn right: you’re standing back in front of the section of the central cylinder with the blue Runes where you dropped down from.
Climb up to the circular platform with the tree (6 jumps, then climb up overlooking the walkway – which has rotated and is standing in another position now. First shoot all the bats that like Lara’s blood.
Run to the end of the walkway and turn right to see a Treasure. Run/jump past the corner and collect your 28th Treasure.

The walkway has rotated again

Run/jump from here

Take Treasure #28

Now you’ll have to align the walkway with the other exit. Return to the platform on top of the central cylinder, go down to the lower ledge, grab the blue part and turn it counter-clockwise. A cinematic will then show you that the walkway is aligned with the other exit.

Start rotating

The final position

The walkway is now aligned with the other exit

Climb up again to the platform. Cross the walkway and in the middle hang down from the left. Shimmy left until you hanging right above the grapple ring. Let go and immediately press B2 to grapple on the ring. Lower down like in the screenshot. Swing left/right/left to reach the left ledge.

Hang above the ring

Hang from the ring

Swing left and let go

Turn left and see how the curved ledge goes around the giant Statue. You have to pull/push the wall of the walkway again to its final point by the edge of the gap – the same way like you did before by crossing around between two supporting beams somewhere in between.

The curved ledge going behind the Statue

Grapple on the ring on your left (on the blue wall) and swing/jump to the lower ledge of the central cylinder again.

Grapple from here

Swing left

Land on the lower ledge of the central cylinder

Cross the gap on your left and climb up to the cylindrical platform. The walkway is now aligned between the new exit (on your right) and the giant Statue. Run to the end, turn left and find your single Relic in this Level behind the Statue. This will increase Lara’s Health permanently for the second time and heal all wounds.

The new alignment of the walkway

Meet the Relic

Lara Stamina has increased again

The walkway’s current position is too far away from the new exit to jump to it. Therefore, it has to be rotated some 20 degrees clockwise to align it again.
Climb down to the lower ledge on the central cylinder and jump over the gap on your right. Use the grapple ring on the wall to swing/jump to the opposite ledge on your right.

There are two ways how to do this. You can either perfectly align it by pulling the wall far enough (look upward and see if the walkway is in front of the exit’s ledge). This would cause a difficult grapple swing/jump though – but not impossible. It would represent a clean ending.
An easier way is pulling the blue walkway wall until it is somewhat in the middle of the previous support beam. Grapple and swing/jump left to the lower ledge of the central cylinder right in front of the hole where you found Treasure #27. Make sure you jump left from a low position or you’ll jump through a gap and drop dead.

Pull the wall until the previous support beam

Look to where you will have to grapple swing/jump to

Jump from this point

Safely land on the lower cylindrical ledge

Cross the gap on the left and the blue panel should now in be between two parts of the ledge – above a gap. Jump to it and climb up to the cylindrical platform. Climb up and pull up and notice how the walkway is skew regarding to the exit.

The blue climbing section is above a gap

The walkway is not exactly aligned

As you can see on the screenshot the walkway is not entire aligned with the exit. Walk over the walkway and at the end the corners should exactly meet. Run/jump over the corner to the exit path.

Run/jump from here

A small cinematic will start. Lara lost here Gauntlet.

And I am Thor no longer, it seems

I wonder how he charged it up again?
Notice that the block with the Skull can be moved.
