Croft Manor

Part 1
Part 2

Restoring the Water Supply

Leave the Gym and return to the garden.
This time don’t turn left to the sundial, but follow the corridor until the end.
You will see a fence with some kind of machine with some pipes inside. The entrance is on the back side to your right. You’ll notice a water tap on the central part.

The water supply device

Go behind the machine and the exclamation sign urges you pick up something from the inventory: the Wrench. Attach it to the yellow spot, grab the wrench and turn it all the way to the left.

All water fountains are functioning again

Finally I’ll be able to take that hot shower.

Go to the nearest fountain and take your Empty Bucket from the inventory and fill it with water. Lovely.

You’ve found the Bucket of Water

Now head back to the fireplace in the Foyer and extinguish the fire by emptying the bucket.

Extinguishing the fire

I do hope Winston will be able to start another fire tonight. Now pick up the Golden Arrow. Ah yes.

The Bathhouse under restoration

Enter the room right of the fireplace. Follow an S shaped corridor to the end and open the door. A small corridor leads you to the Bathhouse through an open door.

The Bathhouse is in a big mess. The first thing you’ll see is a target circle. That means there is something you’ll have to shoot. Run closer until the circle gets red and press B6 to shoot. Apparently you shot a knot that kept the balance in an angle of 45 degrees, which is now moving horizontally.

Your shot will release the balance

From this point have a look around. What do you see?
Left of you is a red bin full of rubbish with a long blue pole sticking out.

Rubbish and a blue pole

In back of you is a balcony with a statue and another balcony on the opposite side. In the middle of both is a round balcony. When you look up you’ll notice the statue of an Archer with a Golden Bow suspended by three ropes, each one leading to one of the three balconies.

A statue suspended by three ropes. I don’t mean Lara (!)

Moreover the place is full of scaffolding and planks on the floor that cover the pool.

Left of the trash bin are two opposite scaffolding ends. Grip the trash bin and maneuver it in between them so that the blue pole is in the center of both scaffoldings.

Shuffle the trash bin between the scaffoldings

Go to the opposite balcony where you’ll find some crates in the right corner in front of a Goddess statue. Lara isn’t kneeling in front of the Goddess, but simply tying her shoestring.

Some crates in front of a statue

Climb the crates, turn right and see a yellow and black barber pole hanging somewhat higher. Jump to it and swing/jump to the round balcony’s lower edge. Shimmy around to the other corner and jump backwards to some construction planks. Then shimmy around the corner and jump backward to a scaffolding.

Easy movements

Now the top of the blue pole should be in the middle of both scaffoldings (if not, drop down and move it correctly).

The pole exactly in the middle

Run and jump to the top and then jump to the opposite scaffolding. Walk until the end, turn right and notice a Grapple hook. Jump/grapple to the next scaffolding.
On your right you’ll now see a crate mentioning fragile. Grab the crate and push it down.

The “fragile” crate

Jump down and maneuver the crate to the edge of the scaffolding where you just pushed it from. Then jump to it and from there you can jump back to the scaffolding itself. Remember this climb.

From the crate to the scaffolding

Pull up, turn around and position yourself at the point where you were standing when pushing the crate down. That is right after the middle of the protruding part of the scaffolding. Face the straight balance and focus the camera.

Position yourself here

You now have to jump to the balance and make sure you land on the front part and not on the central axis or on the second part. From this position that should work fine. Should you fail and slide down, climb the crate to the scaffolding and try again.

Perform the following series of acts very fast:

-         press forward + B4 to jump to the front part and wait a second until it starts going down

-         before sliding down press forward to run up the balance whose second part will go upward

-         just before the edge at the end press B4 to jump to a vertical support plank

Jumping to the balance

Run and jump from the top

Ending up hanging on a plank

Shimmy around the corner of the plank and jump backwards to hang from a plank that faces the entrance of the round balcony.

Jump backwards from here

Shimmy slightly to the left so that Lara hangs in front of the opening in the balcony (focus the camera) and jump backwards to the opening.

Jump backwards to the round balcony’s opening

Once on the balcony you will see a red target circle around a coil of one of the ropes that suspend the Archer statue. Press B6 to shoot it.

Shoot the first rope coil

Jump down to the floor and return to the crate from where you jump up to the scaffolding. Turn to your right and enter the balcony. Go to the far end where the horse and the crates are standing. Pick up a Small Medipack and shoot the coil in the red circle that will loosen the Archer’s second rope.
I wish I didn’t have to do that.

Then face the statue of Atlas carrying the world. There is a ring on the pedestal. Hook your grapple on the ring and pull the statue forward in order to let the globe roll onto a round pressure pad that will open one of two round grates that seal off a pipe in the pool below.

The globe rolls onto the pressure pad

The first of two grates slides away

Return to the scaffolding until you see a blue grapple sign. Jump/grapple to the opposite scaffolding. Turn left and use the blue pole once again to reach the opposite scaffolding.
Return to the blocks by the statue, jump to the barber pole and return to the scaffolding (like you did the first time).
Turn right and notice a statue holding a spear with a huge stirrup (like used with horse saddles) hanging on it.

The lance with the stirrup

Face the stirrup (focus camera) and jump to it. Lara’s weight will lower the spear to a horizontal position, the stirrup will break off and Lara drops to the floor. Return to this point the same way and now you can jump to the lance, and swing/jump to the other balcony. Pull up and go to the far end behind the crates and the fallen statue. Pick up a Large Medipack and shoot the 3rd coil.

The third coil of the Archer’s ropes

The Archer’s statue will now drop down destroying part of the planks and sinking into a section of the partly open pool. I suppose I’ll have to order another statue.
On the other end of the balcony is a red bin with trash mentioning LUG, and in the middle there is a statue of the Goddess Pallas Athena carrying an upward pointing lance. Notice a cross on the floor. Grab the bin and pull it to the round pad next the cross.

Pulling the trash bin

The trash bin has a bar sticking out also pointing upward. Obviously the cross means you have to point the lance and the bar in the direction of the cross’s edges. Do this by grabbing and turning. Once this is done the plaque in the middle of the wall will turn around.
Approach the plaque until you see a red target circle. Shoot it and the second grated wheel in the pool will slide away.

Shoot the target

The pipe is now open

Hang from the middle opening of the balcony and drop to the floor.
You’re done here.

Diving Lesson

Jump into the pool and use your direction pad to swim around on the surface. Press B3 to dive and B4 to return to the surface. You can spot the open pipe in the pool. But first dive down to the Archer statue on the pool’s floor and collect the Decorative Bow.

Dive and collect the Decorative Bow

You’ve found the Decorative Bow

Return to the surface and swim around until you’re right above the pipe. Take a deep breath for a long swim and dive into the pipe.

Dive in from this position

Once you’re swimming in the pipe keep repeatedly pressing B1 to accelerate.
After a few curves you’ll see a lever on your right side. Pull the lever that opens the other side of the pipe. In a cut scene you will see how the pool in Lara’s Gym is filling with water. Yes this was the sealed pipe I told you to pay attention to!

The lever opens the pipe to the Gym pool

Now swim around a bit in your pool and face the pipe you came through. You will now notice an Artifact inside the pipe.

You can see the Artifact from here

Dive in, take the 8th and final Artifact and get the hell out of there to the surface of the Gym pool before you start choking.

Collect the last Artifact

Climb out and leave the Gym for the garden straight to the central section of the maze. Go on top of the central Archer statue and notice a round plate on the floor on each side. One is representing and arrow and the other a bow.
Place the Golden Arrow and the Decorative Bow each on the proper plate.
The Archer is now holding the Arrow and the Bow in each hand.
Go to the lever in front of the gate and pull it. The Archer will turn around and shoot the arrow in the chest of the statue holding the shiny object and it will drop down.

Have the Archer statue shoot his arrow

What a delightfully gruesome display.
Pick up the object.

You’ve found the Music Box Cylinder

Now I’m getting somewhere.

The Music Room

Head to the Foyer, go up the staircase to the end room of the right balcony and enter that door.
Pass an L-shaped corridor and see a device left of the door on your right.
Something’s missing here.

IMPORTANT: have some sound recorder ready (I used a Dictaphone). Insert the music box in the device and record a music sound you will only hear once! What a lovely tune. The light is on green so you can enter the room.
As soon as you will enter the room a new screen will appear that will also give the option to complete the Time Trial. Press B4 and a part will be added with the Unlocks: Replay Level, Music, Art Galleries and Commentaries.

The screen you will get

This is the Music room containing a harp, piano, gong and an old fashioned hi-fi stack. Walk to the hi-fi stack and you’ll get some music from the game.
You can play a few tunes on the harp and the piano and hit the gong. It is often another small tune. Do you need this as it is unclear? It is my idea you have to reproduce the tune from the music box on these instruments and something extra may happen. It may perhaps open that one secret door on the ground floor? Up until now I was unable to combine any match so perhaps this is all a presumption?

Exit the Music room and you’ve finished Croft Manor. You can always replay this Level but you’ll keep your 8 Artifacts forever.

Now let's go to Peru Sublevel 1: Mountain Caves
