1 – The Giant Monster
Proceed
through the exit and a long cut scene will start.
Lara
approaches the Scion – the full three parts - hovering above some kind of an
Atlantean altar. Then she sees an enormous red cocoon and looks down into a lava
pool.
Suddenly the Queen of Atlantis comes into the scene.

Meet Natla – Queen of Atlantis
JN:
You’ve reached the top Lara. There’s
nowhere left to go but down.
Some
horrifying monsters are behind her.
Lara:
You’re rebuilding the army of Atlantis.
JN:
This Pyramid breeds far more than the
soldiers you’ve faced. With the Scion, I now have the means to create anything
I desire.
Lara:
What is it you desire, Natla?
JN:
It takes three to rule. Tihocan and Qualopec were too weak to destroy what
stands in the way of the Seventh Age. But you have the strength to claim this
seat beside me. Immortality has its price. But what are a few lives to sacrifice
for your dreams?
Lara:
This is madness.
JN:
This is what you’ve been searching for. The answers you’ve sought your
entire life within the Scion; everything you’ve done has led you to this
place. You’re here because you belong here, Lara. That’s who you are.
Lara:
I’m sorry, Father.
Lara
points her guns at JN and a bullet in slow motion is hitting her:
NOOOOOOO!
JN
tries to take Lara with her while she drops into the lava pool but Lara is able
to grab the ledge. The gigantic cocoon bursts open hatching a horrifying giant
monster.

You
are on a ledge above the lava pool with this Creature so make sure you don’t
fall off. That Beast can sit on Lara or swallow her. If that happens and
you’re in his stomach shoot it into pieces and he will throw her up. Run back
and forth while shooting him with your Dual Pistols until his rage meter becomes
maximal and make sure you are standing near the ledge. When he attacks and you
see the 4 arrows appearing in the lower right corner of the screen you can do an
Adrenaline Dodge causing King Kong to hang with one hand from the ledge.
Immediately switch to the Shotgun or the Dual Mini SMG’s and shoot the hand
off (this is the trickiest part: you must aim at the hand and you only have a
few seconds to do this). Then he will drop into the lava pool and fry. Easy job
done.

The
back door will now open and you will get a CHECKPOINT.
You
can take 2 packs of Dual Mini SMG Ammo (get your 250 Clips), 2 Large Medipacks,
and Shotgun Ammo.

Find all the goodies on the ledge
Take
the EXIT and go down a ramp to find your next CHECKPOINT. You’ll be in front
of a lava stream. Jump to the island and turn right to spot another island with
a Medipack. Jump far to the island and take the Large Medipack. Notice a pointed
pillar farther on with a Hieroglyph.

To the second island with the Medipack
Jump
to the pointed pillar and perch. Face Lara towards the second pillar and jump to
it. From there jump to the ledge.

Quickly
pull up, draw your shotgun and kill the flying monster coming from below. This
guy is tough and will take 4 bullets before meeting the lava. There is a lever
on the right wall. Pull it and the ledge Lara is standing on will retract into
the wall whereas the opposite ledge (on the left) will extend.
Jump
to it when it is fully extended. When Lara is hanging from the edge it will
retract again.

Pull the lever and jump to the protruding ledge
Pull
up, turn right into the hallway and first pick up some Shotgun Ammo.
Go
left-right and notice an Artifact in the alcove in front of you that you can’t
reach – for now.
Turn
left and avoid the Centaur that will attack. Continue until you get the next
CHECKPOINT.

Get the Checkpoint before the Centaur harms Lara
Then
it’s easy to run around and shoot the Centaur with your Dual Pistols. First
take the Large Medipack and the Shotgun Ammo near the door. There is a grapple
ring and a wall lever in this room.

Explore this room
Pull
the lever. It will close the door you entered from and open the door where you
just picked up the goodies. Then a flying monster will appear, draw your Shotgun
and kill it with just one shot (a weaker specimen?).

Pull the lever and do your job
Enter
the exit and get a CHECKPOINT in front of the next room with a water pool. When
you enter the room a flying monster and a Mummy will hatch from the cocoons.
Retreat into the hallway and kill the Mummy first. When reaching the closed door
you will then get a new CHECKPOINT. Now deal with the flying monster from the
hallway, it can’t fly in. When entering the water pool room you’ll get a new
CHECKPOINT.
Run
around and pick up Shotgun Ammo and 50 Caliber Pistol Ammo.

This room has some goodies too
To
the right of the 50’s Ammo is a panel across a small gap. Jump to it and
Lara’s extremely heavy weight will lower it. Jump backward and hit the target
before the panel rises again.
This
will open one of three circular gates in the pool.

And...
of course your regular flying monster will hatch from a cocoon, so draw your
Shotgun and shoot it into pieces with one shot (Sigh! Don’t they have anything
more original?).
Then
go to the left side and jump to a second panel – this time without a lava pit
in front of it. Make sure you have your Dual Pistols ready to shoot, jump
backward and hit the target before it rises and seals it off. Your second gate
will open in the pool. Now guess what? Draw your Shotgun and walk backward. What
do you think is hatching now? ...Right, another flying monster you can shoot.
This one is tougher and needs a few more bullets.

Now it’s about time to jump into the water – nothing else to do here. Notice a tunnel right under the water level when facing the ramp you came from. Dive in and find a Small Medipack.

Return
to the surface for some breath and dive in again. Explore the walls under water
and discover a lever. Pull the lever that will protrude a ledge from a wall
above the water.
Get
out of the water for a little change. Guess twice what monster will hatch from
the next cocoon? OK, this time it’s a Mummy (can’t always be a flyer). Get
your 50’s ready because this fellow is harder to kill.

Jump
to the extended ledge and pull up. Climb into the alcove and take a Large
Medipack. Climb up into the opening with the metal crate you saw from the other
room.

Turn
around and notice an Artifact on the opposite ledge. Jump to the ledge and take
the Artifact. Turn around and jump back to the opening with the crate. Push the
metal crate into the previous room.

Get the Artifact and push the crate down
Drop
down to the previous room and push the crate in front of the rock left of the
(now closed) entrance to this room. CHECKPOINT. Climb the rock from the crate
and guess what is hatching from the opposite cocoon? Yes, a flying monster for a
change. Take your Shotgun and do what you have to do. Then pick up the Small
Medipack lying on the rock for your future hospital.

Jump
to the ledge, pull up and pull the wall lever that will re-open the door from
where you came in. You’re standing right above that door.

Re-open the door
You don’t see this but the door to the room with the water pool is closed now. When you drop down you will be by the crate. Remember that Artifact you saw in the alcove before entering this room? You couldn’t reach it, could you? Well now you can. Push the crate under the alcove. Jump from the crate into the alcove and take the Artifact.

Push
the crate back to where it was before: under the rock in the next room. Notice
three yellow flat openings in the wall. Those are similar narrow ledges that
spit steam after a few seconds, just like in the room with your double,
remember? All the way left you can spot a safe narrow ledge in the corner and
that is where you’re heading. Time for some quick action now! Jump to the
first opening and shimmy fast left where you have to make a side jump to the 2nd
opening on your left. Repeat for the 3rd and then side jump to the
narrow ledge.

Shimmy
left around the corner and look backward to see a blue circle appearing on a
grapple ring. Grapple jump and swing back and forth until you can jump left to a
narrow ledge in the corner.

Shimmy
left, vault up to the alcove and take the Dual 50 Caliber Pistol Ammo.
Go
to the other side and hang down from the ledge. Drop to the floor and take some
Shotgun Ammo. Walk to the other side overlooking the water pool room. Hang down
from the ledge.

Reach the ledge with the 3rd panel
Drop
to the ledge with the 3rd panel and jump to lower it down and reveal
another target. Jump backward and shoot the target with your Dual Pistols. Now
the 3rd gate under water will open. CHECKPOINT.

Jump
to a low rock and climb up. Then slide to the water pool room and jump into the
water. Remember the tunnel where you found the Small Medipack? Swim through that
tunnel again and now that the three gates are open swim upward at the end of the
tunnel.

Back into the pool tunnel
Pull up on the ledge and take some Dual 50 Caliber Pistol Ammo. Proceed to a lava flow room and earn your next CHECKPOINT.
