Sublevel
2 – The Great Pyramid
Part
1 – Ledges over Lava
Enter
the Pyramid and notice that the glowing Hieroglyphs are not at all Egyptian but
Atlantean. Follow the spectacular walkway until you have to turn left. Before
turning right take some Dual Mini SMG ammo. Go on and turn right until you reach
a colorful exotic room – or so it seems.

Reach an exotic room after many curves
There
are some very strange red creatures on the walls, looking like cocoons with
tentacles. Before exiting through the door opposite of the central walkway turn
right at the end and find 2 sets of Dual Mini SMG Ammo in the corner (if you
don’t have 250 Clips by now, that is your max).

Observe the room
Go
to the exit and Lara will see how JN – Queen of Atlantis - holds the Scion and
then disappears. A rock will explode revealing a magnificent golden Pyramid. The
lava level in the next room is rising. CHECKPOINT.

Is this a vision?
When
Lara returns to the room with the cocoons a few of them explode. A flying
monster and two Mummies emerge and attack her. Take your Dual Mini SMG’s and
retreat to the Lava room while shooting at them. That will take them down in a
second, but you will lose a lot of Ammo.

The SMG’s are very efficient but costly on Ammo
Go
to the corner and refill your stack of Shells. The door where you entered has
closed now, so you’re trapped inside. Run there and turn right to find a newly
opened door leading to a ladder. Climb it to the top and enter a hallway. Turn
around and walk to a ledge overlooking the cocoon room. Wild music announces the
attack of 2 flying monsters that broke out of their cocoons. Keep shooting with
your SMG’s to get them down.
If
you like you can go down from the ladder first and take those two packs of dual
Mini SMG Ammo and then return here above where you’ll find another stack of
them. Run around and pick up 2 Large Medipacks too. Go to the other side and
find an exit on your right. Go left-left and reach a ledge overlooking the lava
pool. CHECKPOINT. Many cocoons are
hanging from the walls of this huge room. Left of the ledge you find Shotgun
Ammo, Dual Mini SMG Ammo and a Large Medipack.

Proceed to the ledge above the lava pool
There
are a number of lit targets on the walls and the closest one is to your right.
Aim at it with your Dual Pistols and keep shooting until the ring of Hieroglyphs
around the target is fully lit and a grapple ring appears above them.
Immediately a flying monster will emerge from a cocoon and attack you. Run back
into the hallway (run/roll to speed up) and hide behind the entrance. Come out
and shoot it from here in one session.
You’ll
have to reach the ledge on the opposite wall.

Shoot the target and fight the flying monster
The
Hieroglyphs around the button will quickly darken and when all lights are out
the grapple ring will retract into the wall. Stand in the right corner of the
ledge and notice a crevice in the opposite column.
From
here shoot the target again to let the ring appear and jump to the crevice.
Shimmy fast around the left corner. Look backward to see a blue circle appearing
around the grapple ring.

Prepare for the grapple jump
Grapple
jump on the ring, swing left and grab the lower narrow ledge on the opposite
column. Vault up to the crevice above and shimmy left around the corner. Look
backward and prepare for a jump to the 2nd ledge.

On the column
Jump backward to the ledge and pull up. CHECKPOINT. Walk to the other end of the ledge and notice a similar target and a column in the corner with two crevices.

On the second ledge
In
fact this will be a repetition of the previous move except that here also the
ledge will retract when the ring of Hieroglyphs dims.
Shoot
the target a first time and a flying monster will attack. It isn’t easy to
avoid his fireballs but you must keep running from left to right on the ledge
while constantly shooting at him with your Dual Pistols. Get rid of that pesky
Thing.
Immediately
shoot the target again (meaning: shoot until the ring of fire is complete) to
extend the ledge (it was retracting) and stand in the right corner facing the
column. Shoot the target again and jump to the lower crevice of the column and
vault up to the higher narrow ledge. Shimmy fast around the left corner.
Look
backward and grapple jump on the ring and swing to the lower narrow ledge in the
opposite column.
Vault
up to the crevice above and shimmy left around the corner.

On the column
Vault
up to the narrow ledge above and look backward to prepare a jump to the ledge.
Jump
backward to the ledge and pull up to get your next CHECKPOINT.

On the third ledge
Look
at the wall: there is a target left of two cocoons. Stand near the wall with the
lit decorated part (that is the middle of the ledge) and shoot a full ring of
Hieroglyphs. The two cocoons burst open and two flying monsters will attack. The
best guns to shoot them down are still your ordinary Dual Pistols. That is
because it is very hard to target the monsters, you will always “naturally”
target the ring of Hieroglyphs. If you take a more powerful weapon – like the
Dual Mini SMG’s or the Shotgun - you will lose lots of precious Ammo. And this
is only the beginning as there are more such ledges ahead. Therefore stick to
the Dual Pistols.
The
best way to fight the monsters is to target one by pressing B5 but even then you
may immediately be reversed to the target with the Hieroglyphs.
If
you get a lock onto one of them run back and forth on the ledge while constantly
shooting. A few paces left and right are sufficient, always stay close to the
center of the ledge and this way you will avoid their fireballs. Both will be
dead in a half a minute and you will take little injury.
Since
this ledge is retracting also shoot the target and light all Hieroglyphs around
it. The ledge will extend again and a number of horizontal poles temporarily
protrude from the walls. Also two grapple rings will temporarily appear:
one above the target and one on a lit decorated panel on the opposite wall. You
will have to make two grapple jumps in a row this time! If you jump to the poles
and the crevice in the corner column you definitely won’t make it in time.
Instead
you will have to grapple jump straight to the first ring and avoid the poles.
Stand
on the right truncated corner of the ledge. Shoot the target so that the ledge
is on its maximal extent. Run/jump fast (meaning keep pressing B4) into the
direction of the target and grapple on the ring. You will automatically swing to
the left. During this swing press B7 to see Lara from the back and hang from the
ledge. Pull up until you are under the edge of the trapezoidal frame. Swing
left-right-left and at the highest point jump to the left wall.

Kill the monsters and swing from the chain
You
will drop to an almost invisible slope in the corner.
Grapple
jump from the slope to the second ring. You will automatically wall run left.
Swing right-left and at its highest point jump to the lower narrow ledge on the
left column. Vault up to the crevice above.

From the slope grapple jump to the narrow ledge
Shimmy
around the left corner and jump backward to the 4th ledge. Pull up to
get the next CHECKPOINT.

On the 4th ledge
Shoot
the target and notice a number of poles extending from the walls. Your inevitable
two flying monsters will attack and you now know how to send them to the lava
pool down below.
Notice
a slope in the corner and stand near the edge of the ledge facing the slope.
Again, shoot the target to maximize your timed sequence and jump far to the
slope. When touching immediately jump to the first pole and from there to the
second slope (you can do this without a swing/jump). When touching jump from the
slope to the second pole.

Two slopes to the second pole
Quickly
adjust your position right in front of the narrow ledge on the corner column and
swing/jump to it. Vault up to the crevice above.

To the crevice above the narrow ledge
Shimmy
left around the corner and jump backward to the 5th ledge. Pull up
and get your next CHECKPOINT. Shoot the target and deal with your usual pair of
flying monsters.

On the 5th ledge
Shoot the target again and stand on the truncated right edge where you will see a blue circle appearing around the first ring. Shoot it again and jump far to the ring and then grapple. You will swing left. Swing right-left and jump to the slope in the left corner.

Swing from the first grapple ring
Start
sliding down while noticing a blue circle pointing left. That means you can
grapple jump on the second ring. Grapple/jump from the slope where you will
swing to your left (don’t keep swinging). At its highest peak jump to the
lower crevice in the left column. Vault up to the narrow ledge above.

Reach the column in the corner
Shimmy left around the corner and look backward to prepare a backward jump to the 6th ledge. Hang from the ledge and pull up. CHECKPOINT. Notice a Large Medipack and some Dual 50 Caliber Pistols Ammo lying there.

On the 6th ledge
