2 – The Trap Room
Walk
up the ramp and listen to the sound of a Mummy. When you hear that sound stop
until the Beast shows up. Keep running backward while constantly shooting with
your Dual Shotguns and it will be sent back to Mummyland in seconds. CHECKPOINT.

When the Mummy shows up start firing
Run
up the ramp again and enter a quite dusty room on your right. Then turn left to
notice a pit where you see two poles and one of those Scarabs with a narrow
ledge on top. There is a ladder left of the ledge. Climb down and turn left to
find a Small Medipack and Shotgun Ammo.

Go down the ladder to find the goodies
Return to the ladder, climb up and now face the poles. It’s obvious what you have to do here: jump to the first pole and normally swing/jump to the second. But it’s not that easy. When you jump to the poles they will immediately start lowering down.

Too late! The first pole has lowered
So
you must jump to the first pole, and when grabbing the pole immediately jump to
the second (press B4), then to the Scarab ledge (that also will lower) and
quickly vault up to the stable narrow ledge on top.

How to reach the narrow ledge on top of the Scarab’s ledge
Shimmy
left and make a sideward jump to the stairs on your left.

Reaching the staircase
Run
up the stairs and find two double horizontal trap doors that you have to quickly
pass by running/rolling (you’ve done this before). Past the trap turn right
where you’ll find a similar double trap door, but this time vertical.

This double trap door is vertical
There
is a small pit behind this trap so better make a running jump as soon as the
doors open. Get a CHECKPOINT past this trap and enter a ledge from where you see
the top of the Obelisk of Khamoon.

Look
right and see narrow ledges on the wall, a pole and a ledge. Left is a ledge
with a barred gate.

Look right and left
Go
to the right and jump to the tiny narrow ledge. You will notice that the narrow
ledge on your left has a crumbling part on the right side. So better vault up to
the upper narrow ledge.

Start from this point
Shimmy
left and side jump to the higher narrow ledge on your left. Shimmy left and then
drop to the stable part of the lower narrow ledge.

The way you should go
Look
backward and see the pole where you should jump to. Swing/jump to the ledge in
front of Lara.

Reaching the ledge
On
your right there is a wall lever you can pull. Doing so will lower a second draw
bridge near the pool by the base of the Obelisk and also opens the opposite
gate. CHECKPOINT.

Pull this lever
Turn
around to see the opened gate and some narrow ledges that obviously will lead
you to the new entrance.

Prepare for Lara’s next moves
Return
from the pole via the narrow ledge to the entrance. Jump to the first narrow
ledge on the left side. Shimmy right and notice that you are reaching a
crumbling part. Shimmy fast past it to reach the next stable part of the narrow
ledge. Turn around the corner and shimmy right until you reach the next
crumbling section. Shimmy fast to your right until you can drop down to the
ledge.

Start your jump from this point and reach the ledge
Enter
and turn left where you will see a spinning and razor sharp blade on each wall.
Observe the blades: they also retract into the walls in a constant rhythm. Stand
in the middle and when they have retracted run/roll past them. The second
identical trap is above a pit. A bar is on top of them. When the blades start to
retract into the walls jump to the bar and when grabbing it press B4 to
immediately jump to the opposite ledge.

Passing the blade traps
Pull
up, turn right and get a CHECKPOINT. The hallway ends at a ledge that gives
access to a huge room. Notice a ramp going down on your left and a second
smaller ramp by the opposite wall.

The ledge with the ramps
When
you land on the floor immediately start shooting at a Mummy on your right and
run backward until it is dead.

Sliding down and taking care of the Mummy
There
is Shotgun Ammo and a Small Medipack down below. Left of the Ammo there are
three higher alcoves you can jump into. The left one contains a Small Medipack
and the right one has a wall lever. The middle one is empty.

Pull the lever and a cut scene will show how the ramp turns into a staircase of blocks. Also two grilled doors will be raised and higher up a grapple ring will appear on the wall. CHECKPOINT.

What the wall lever may cause
Pull
out a block from the opened alcove in the corner (do not enter the other opened
entrance yet that leads to the bottom of the Obelisk). Find a Small Medipack in
this alcove. Climb onto the block and jump to a narrow ledge in the wall. Vault
up to the higher one. Shimmy left on the higher narrow ledge and look left: you
will see a grapple ring (there are two vertical spinning blades above this ring
that also go in and out of the wall), and a narrow ledge above a Scarab on the
opposite wall. The Scarab also has a narrow ledge above it and you know what the
Scarab does: it will lower when Lara grabs its ledge.

This block has some potential
Hang
from the chain and swing high enough to reach the upper narrow ledge. If you
grab the Scarab’s ledge immediately vault up to the upper narrow ledge.

Get to the upper narrow ledge
Shimmy
left and side jump to the ledge in the left corner. Go left and climb the block
on your right to find 25 more Clips for your Mini SMG.
Climb the next block to find a Small Medipack.

Some goodies to find here
Drop down to the ledge and have a look at the left corner where you notice a Scarab (with a narrow ledge). There are stable narrow ledges within reach on the right corner. From the higher narrow ledge the camera will turn and show you the blade trap and a grapple ring above.
You
will notice how the blade immediately retracts into the wall and then slowly
emerges. When it retracts jump backward and grapple on the ring. You can then
make two swings to increase your height and jump to the Scarab’s ledge on the
opposite side and vault up to the stable narrow ledge higher up.

Reach the first narrow ledge above the Scarab
There
are two higher narrow ledges beyond reach from here. To reach the first higher
ledge you need to shimmy to the left and side jump when the spinning blade
retracts. Grapple on the hook and build up altitude by swinging once and then
jumping to this higher narrow ledge.

Reaching the higher narrow
ledge
Vault
up to the highest narrow ledge which is left of the spinning blade. You will
notice a blue grapple sign in the upper right corner of the screen pointing to
the right. That means there is grapple hook on your back. Turn backward to see
it, and also notice a second spinning blade past the hook and a wall crevice
past the blade.
When
the first blade has retracted, jump backward, grapple on the hook and swing to
the right. At the highest point press B4 + right to reach the crevice on the
right of the second blade.

You’ll have to pass two spinning blades
Shimmy
right and pull up. Climb the block on your left. You’ll obtain a CHECKPOINT
when hanging from it. Pull up and turn around looking down. You can see a shiny
thing on top of a block with a slope. There is a grapple hook on your left and
another one right above the ledge with the object you want.
Return
to the lower block and jump to the hook on your left and grapple on. Swing left
and right and when Lara’s reaches a maximum height press B7 to see her from
the back, then press backward + B4 to grapple on the hook under the balcony.
You’re not exactly above the ledge with the shiny thing now. So you must go a
tiny bit to the right and let go to land on the ledge. You will pick up an
Artifact.

How to reach the ledge with the Artifact
Drop
down and die. You’ll then be standing on top of the block staircase with the
Artifact in your pocket (the previous Checkpoint). Drop down one block and
repeat the jump/grapple sequence on the two hooks again. When hanging from the
second hook swing left and right to reach the ledge in the right corner.

Up to the corner ledge
Turn
left and jump to the first narrow ledge and vault up to the higher narrow ledge.
Side jump from the left to the balcony, and pull up.

Reaching the balcony
Follow
the hallway, right-right-right until you overlook the top of the Obelisk again.
On your left is a wall lever. Pull the lever and watch how a 3rd draw
bridge lowers to the base of the Obelisk. CHECKPOINT.

The lever will trigger the 3rd draw bridge
Return
to the balcony of the previous room: left-left-left. From the balcony you will
see a blue circle around a grapple ring on the ceiling and a narrow ledge on the
opposite wall. Grapple jump to the ring and adjust your position. Swing/jump to
the narrow ledge.

The correct position for your swing
Shimmy
right around the corner and drop down to the hallway. This is the original
entrance from where you arrived at this room with the ramp that has now turned
into a stairway of blocks. (A glitch in the game: from here you will see the
Artifact on the ledge you already took).
Jump
to the first block and earn a CHECKPOINT. Drop down from block to block to the
floor again. Enter the hallway (the one that leads to the bottom of the
Obelisk). You will see the wall lever that you pulled earlier. Go into the
hallway and when you turn left get a CHECKPOINT.
Now you are standing in front of a horizontal double trap door which kind you certainly will recognize. When it opens you can a see a pit with 3 pointed pillars and spinning blades in each wall. Run/roll past the door trap and stand on the ledge in front of the pit with 3 pillars.

From the initial entrance to the pit down below
Jump
to the first pillar and perch. You will now notice a second couple of trap doors
behind the blades on each wall. You can rest here if you like, but press B1 when
you lose your balance.
When
the blades have retracted into the walls jump to the 2nd pillar and
perch. When the trap doors are closed and about to open jump to the 3rd
pillar and immediately to the ledge.

How to pass this complicated trap
Go
right. You’re back at the bottom of the Obelisk. Pick up the Small Medipack on
your right, cross the bridge and find the Seal of Anubis. CHECKPOINT.
