Part 2 – Below the Cat’s Temple
Step
on the ledge and observe the room in front of you: an enormous double open trap
door with a pole sticking out from the wall under the door and a bar above in
the square opening.
Jump
from the right corner of the ledge to a narrow ledge on the trap door at about a
third of its height and vault up to its top. Jump backward to the bar and
swing/jump to the top of the opposite part of the trap door. Vault up to the
upper ledge where you will hang down.

Reach the ceiling from the other part of the trap door
Pull
up and when you walk left to the lever on the wall get a CHECKPOINT.
Pull
the lever and a cut scene will show you the Cat Temple
down below where a complicated trap door on either side of the statue will
lower.

Walk
to the ledge and overlook the Courtyard with the pool and the Cat statue. On the
roof of the Cat’s temple on your right you can see a shiny object – an
Artifact?

A

Walk
to the left corner of the ledge and look down to notice that 2 new crocodiles
have appeared: one for a future new purse and one for a new hat.
Press
B5 to target them one by one with your Dual Pistols and shoot the future skins.

Make sure you collect the softest parts when they’re cold
From
this corner you will notice a blue grapple ring indicated higher up on the wall.
Grapple jump to the narrow ledge in the corner. Shimmy to the right and see a
blue grapple sign with an arrow pointing up appearing when you push backward.
Jump backward and grapple on the 2nd ring. When hanging from this
ring turn slightly right and look upward to see a 3rd grapple ring.
Further away to your right you’ll spot a 4th ring. Slide down a bit
from the chain.

How to hang from the 2nd ring and spot the next two
Start
swinging and when your reach the proper altitude jump grapple the 3rd
ring when it becomes blue. Grapple jump the 4th ring the same way.
You will now hang in front of the Cat’s temple roof. Swing to reach the roof.
Collect this fine Artifact.

On the roof with the Artifact
Slide from the slope in front of the roof and end up in the pool. Get out from a low part of the ledge and go to the Cat’s temple.

You
can climb up from the left of the small temple. Drop down into the pit and turn
left to slide from the slope. Follow left until the CHECKPOINT. Enter a doorway
with Dual 50 Caliber Pistols Ammo on either side (take them if you have room)
and then you will end up by a ledge overlooking a lower room with a lit Obelisk
on top of a pedestal. Notice the Panther waiting to the left of it.

End up high in front of this room
Jump
to the middle ledge and shoot the Panther with your Dual Shotguns (some 20
shots). Draw your Dual 50 Caliber Pistols and run/jump down.
Another
Panther will emerge from the left door that opened up, so keep firing at him
until you see the 4 arrows appearing on the lower right corner of the screen,
meaning you can perform an Adrenaline Dodge. Move aside (press right + B3) and
wait until you see the red target appearing around the Panther’s head in slow
motion. Fire once to kill him.
Meanwhile
two other Panthers will also have emerged so keep running backward while
constantly firing. Doing such you may kill one or apply another Adrenaline
Dodge. This way you will have killed the 3 Panthers with almost no loss of
health. CHECKPOINT.
Go
inside the cage and pick up a Large Medipack.
The second door locks up 2 more Panthers but can be opened with the lever on the right side. Pull the lever and immediately run left of the door where there is a narrow ledge you can jump to. Vault up to the upper narrow ledge where the Panthers can’t reach you. This way you avoid a fight with these aggressive creatures, so ignore them down below because you don’t have to go down there anymore. You can’t vault up to the 3rd narrow ledge because it is too high. Prepare for a side jump to the ledge on the door’s Scarab on your right from where both Panthers emerged.

Escape from the Panthers
When you hang from the Scarab’s ledge immediately press backward + B4 to jump backward to the lowest narrow ledge on the middle pedestal. Vault up to the higher narrow ledge and prepare for a side jump to a decorated beam on your right.

Reaching the pedestal’s ledge
When you grab the beam it will rotate a half turn to the right. Shimmy left to the corner and side jump left to the narrow ledge on the wall, which is the third narrow ledge you could not reach before.

From the rotated beam to the third narrow ledge on the wall
Vault
up to the 4th narrow ledge. Jump backward to the top of the pedestal
and pull up. Turn left, go to the corner and notice another wasp tail like
target on the wall left of where you entered. There is also something shiny
lying left of it in an alcove. Press B5 to target and shoot the wasp tail. A
grapple ring will then emerge from the ceiling above Lara. CHECKPOINT.

The target will trigger a grapple ring
Grapple
jump to the ring and turn slightly to your left in order to face the alcove.
Start swinging and jump into the alcove. You’ll hear a chime sound and then
pick up the Large Medipack. Notice some Ammo lying on the upper ledge too.

Pull
up to the higher ledge to pick up the Dual 50 Caliber Pistols Ammo and hop back
to the lower ledge (where the Medipack was) and grapple on the same hook.
Hanging from the chain turn left until you see the entrance to this room again.

Return to the entrance ledge from the grapple hook
Climb
up to the entrance ledge where you may see the Dual 50 Caliber Pistols Ammo on
each side of the entrance. If you see them you will probably need them, so pick
them up. Jump back to the middle ledge and go to the right corner until you see
a blue grapple sign pointing upwards. Grapple jump and climb up to the level of
the pedestal’s ledge and swing to the ledge.

Fill up your stock of 50’s Ammo and return to the pedestal’s ledge
Continue
along the ledge that forms a bridge to the opposite room and turn left until you
see it turning to the right. Stop running and slowly walk close to the left
wall. Select your Dual 50 Caliber Pistols. Wait near the corner and immediately
start shooting a Panther that will run at Lara from the right. Run backwards and
keep firing bullets until he’s gone. You will take a little damage. If you
need a Small Medipack take one. Then return to the corner and turn right where
you will get a CHECKPOINT. Should you have ran at once around the corner, the
Checkpoint would have registered right at the moment when the Panther would have
attacked. This way the Panther is dead and you can earn your CHECKPOINT.
Turn
right again and Lara’s attention will be focused on a ledge in front of her.
Climb the step and jump to the ledge. Pull up, turn right and climb the ladder
on your right.

Your attention is required, but why?
Surprise!
On top a Mummy will attack you like the two you met before. If you don’t react
fast enough you will drop down or hang from the top of the ladder like in these
screenshots. Take your time to look around and you will notice a pile of sand on
the right side with two obelisks and in the far right corner you may notice a
double rock formation. There is a giant Scarab in front of you and a room on
your left.

This is a pat situation but you won’t be harmed
So
load the previous savegame (after you killed the Panther). You will see the
ledge right in front of you. Return to the ladder, but this time be prepared!
Climb
the ladder again, but stop right before the top so the Mummy can’t see you but
you can see him. He’s hiding in the left corner of the giant Scarab.

See where the Beast is hiding
Ready?
Act fast now! Quickly pull up, run to the pile of sand in the direction of the
right corner where you saw the rocks and jump to the lower rock from where you
climb the higher rock. You’re safe from the Beast here, so pick up the Large
Medipack.

Run and jump to the higher rock
From
the corner of the rock look down and see the Beast sitting right of the second
pillar. Draw your Dual Pistols and keep shooting until the Thing is dead. It’s
cheap (infinite bullets) and it doesn’t cost you any health either. That is
what I call a clean job for Lara.

Shoot the Thing into pieces from here
Jump
to the lower rock again and collect the Dual 50 Caliber Pistols Ammo. Then
return to the higher rock and turn left. See a narrow ledge on the opposite
wall, the two pointed pillars you saw before and higher up a blue grapple sign
pointing upward. Left you already noticed a row of 3 colored pillars.

Overlook the situation here
Grapple jump on the ring and face Lara from the back by pressing B7. Climb up on the chain until the barred window. You will see the top of the first pillar behind her. Jump backward to perch on the pole. Turn right to face the 1st colored pillar near the rocks (if necessary turn the camera behind Lara’s back so she faces the colored pillar) and jump to the higher narrow ledge on the pillar.

The easiest way to reach the narrow ledge on the colored pillar
Drop
down to the lower narrow ledge and shimmy right around the corner. Jump backward
to the narrow ledge on the 2nd pillar. Notice a narrow ledge on the
wall on your left. Shimmy to the right corner and side jump to the narrow ledge
of the third pillar. You want to reach the Artifact above the door on your
right.

Reach the 3rd pillar
Vault up to the higher narrow ledge. Shimmy to your right around the two corners and prepare for a sideward jump to the highest narrow ledge of the middle pillar. Shimmy right so Lara’s back is facing the opposite wall with the narrow ledge. Jump backward to the narrow ledge.

Reach the narrow ledge on the wall
Look above to your right to see a grapple ring. Side jump and grapple on the ring. Swing until you can jump to the ledge and take the Artifact.

You’ve found the 3rd Artifact
Go
to the right corner of the ledge and hang down. Let go to the floor (a little
damage done) near the room left of the Scarab and climb the ladder all the way
up. This time no attacking Mummy is there on top! Follow the hallway until your
next CHECKPOINT.
You
will see a lever in front of you.

To the upper ledge
Turn
left on this ledge to find out that you are above the room with the 3 Pharaohs
on each side. Pulling the lever will temporarily move both rows of 3 statues
together. From above you will notice that upper ledges will also move together.
Let’s call the upper ledges R1-3 (the right row) and L1-3 (the left row).
Stand before the ledges and notice how they will retract to learn how the only
way your sequence of jumps should be:
R1-L1-L2-R2-R3

Jumping from ledge to ledge
From
R3 jump to the big ledge on the other end.

Ending on the far ledge
Pull
up and find a Large Medipack on the left side.

Your Large Medipack
Run
to the wall lever and pull it to trigger the Scarab Mechanism in the lower room
(where you met the Mummy) and to permanently extend both rows of Pharaohs.
CHECKPOINT.

Pull this lever
Return
to the ledge in front of the Pharaohs. From this point of view it is obvious you
will have to jump to L1-L2-R2-R3-L3 and then to the ledge.

From L3 to the opposite ledge
Go
right to the next CHECKPOINT. Climb down from the ladder and enter the room with
the big Scarab statue once again.

The Scarab has lowered down
Return to the blocks in the corner and grapple on the ring. Like before, jump backward to the first pointed pillar but now turn to the 2nd pointed pillar where you will perch and jump to the narrow ledge on the wall. When hanging from the right part of the narrow ledge notice that the middle part is cracked.

Reach the narrow ledge
Shimmy
left while speeding up with B1. The middle part will crumble but you will reach
the left corner of the narrow ledge. Now prepare to jump to the Scarab’s right
wing. This will trigger its mechanism and a double trap door will open in the
floor, where a pile of sand will be dumped to the lower floor. Drop down.
CHECKPOINT.

The opened pit in the floor
Hang
from the edge of the pit and drop down twice from a narrow ledge to land on the
sand. This is the room where you jumped to the lower ledge with the ladder that
led to the Scarab room. Now you also can reach the higher window. Jump, pull up
and follow the walkway, turning left to get a CHECKPOINT.

Get into this walkway
You
will then enter an intriguing room full of Egyptian decorations, Obelisks and
blocks under pillars. Obviously things can be moved here.
Let’s
say that you start with the block on the right of the entrance (that is a
typical practice for the left-handed person like myself: going from right to
left).
When
you move a block you can enter a hidden room, so I go counter clockwise.

1: find Shotgun Shells (if you have room in your Inventory)

2: a wall picture with an Ibis cartouche

3: go straight-left into an empty room

Block
4: wild music when you pull the block! Immediately jump to the block because you
have released a Panther. He will run around the block. Draw your Shotgun and
shoot that black devil into pieces. Inside there is Shotgun ammo and a wall
picture with a cartouche that looks like a fishing hook (I don’t know how to
call this thing but look at the picture. Those are hieroglyphics inside the
cartouche I think, but I don’t know what they stand for unless it is on the
tray like one is water and the fish hook one might stand for the number two?)

6: enter straight-right and find Dual 50 Caliber Pistols Ammo

7: wild music! Jump to the block and kill the emerging Panther with your Shotgun
like you did with block #4. Go inside and find a wall picture with a cartouche
representing what looks like a knife

Pull the blocks out
Now
first return to the rooms where you saw some Shotgun Ammo (you’ve spent some
bullets on both Panthers) and restore your Shotgun Ammo until you have 40 Shells
again.
Then face the closed Scarab gates and notice where you pulled out block #4 there are some crevices in that particular pillar. Move block #4 under the pillar, jump from there to the first crevice and vault up to the second where you can shimmy right around two corners and reach the opposite side.

Go all around pillar #4
From
there jump backward to a narrow ledge on the wall. Shimmy to the right and side
jump to a crevice in the pillar of block #3. Shimmy right around the corner and
vault up to the higher crevice. Jump backward and perch on the nearby obelisk.

Reach the first Obelisk
Now
you have to jump to the other 3 Obelisks and perch on these. It is very
difficult to focus your camera to get Lara in one line with the next Obelisk.
Always remember to press B1 when she loses her balance. Eventually jump to
Obelisk #4 in front of the narrow
ledge in the opposite wall.

Reach the 4th Obelisk
Jump
to that ledge and shimmy around the corner from where you notice a Relic in the
room on your right. Drop down to the lower crevice and shimmy right around the
corner so you can pull up to the ledge of this room.

Reach the ledge where the Relic is hidden
Take
a Large Medipack and then the Relic: The Mummified Cat.

You’ve found the Mummified Cat
With
the cult of the Cat Goddess Bast (also known as Bastet) becoming popular in late
period Egypt, cats were often mummified and sold to pilgrims who presented them
as offerings to the Goddess.
Hang from the ledge and drop to the floor. Return to the Scarab gates and turn around: you will see that the 4 Obelisks all have risen. This happened each time you found a mural picture in one of the rooms. They are standing on a cylindrical pedestal now.

The four wall pictures you found inside the rooms
Each
Obelisk has one of the cartouche figures you have seen in the rooms.
The
pedestals which the Obelisks are standing on have handholds so they can be
rotated. You must rotate these cylindrical pedestals such that the combination
matches the wall picture. Grab a handhold and rotate it until you hear a click.
That is the correct position.

When
the 4 Obelisks match the wall paintings you saw in the rooms, the Scarab gates
will open.
Exit through the gates and your completion window will appear.
