Jump
off to the slope on your right, slide down and jump to a ledge.

Slide down and jump to a ledge
The
ledge has clean air. Go left and jump to the large platform with a central
column.

Jump to the platform with the central column
Elika:
This is Ahriman’s Tower.
Prince: Ahriman’s Tower? Why would
you build a Tower to Ahriman?
Elika: Ahriman and Ormazd weren’t
always at war. The Tower was built more than a thousand years ago when they were
brothers. Each balancing the other, until Ahriman decided to take it all.
Prince: I knew the Tower was built
before Ormazd and Ahriman split...
but why keep it?

It’s a reminder
Prince:
It’s like going home with a girl and
finding keepsakes of her ex boyfriend everywhere. Creepy.
Elika: Maybe the girl wants to
remember what had been good before things went wrong. Maybe it was to remind her
of the things that did go wrong.
Prince: Maybe her interfering mother
couldn’t forget him. Do you think Ahriman will be happy to find his Tower’s
been demolished?
Elika: Ahriman doesn’t care about
this City.
Approach
the central column. The Prince will look up and notice a blue Plate on
one of the walls:

What’s up there?
Elika:
The
Tower
of
Prince: Well, then it’s a great time
for you to find out.
Climb
up the column to the top and prepare a roof run. Behind you is the blue Plate.

Prepare a roof run
Roof
run to the ring and press red to flip and run up the wall. Then jump off
to the opposite wall and run to the Plate.

Roof run and press red on the ring

Wall run up

Jump off and run up to the Plate
Press
yellow on the Plate and you’ll be pulled to a narrow ledge.

From the blue Plate to a narrow ledge
Jump
up to the higher narrow ledge and from there to the banister of a bridge. Pull
up and enter the bridge.

Up to the bridge with the banister
Go
right and turn left on the other side. You’ll see an opening in the banister.
There is a narrow ledge on the opposite wall.

The opening in the banister and the narrow ledge
Jump
to the wall and run up to the narrow ledge. Jump up to a higher narrow ledge.

Hanging from the higher narrow ledge
Chimney
jump between the walls and reach a full ledge.

Chimney jump to the top ledge
Walk
outside to the balcony. On your right there is a vertical narrow shaft in the
outer wall.

Notice a vertical narrow shaft in the outside wall
Jump
up to the narrow shaft and climb up. Jump higher to a narrow ledge. On your
right there is a ledge past a vertical narrow shaft.

Hanging from the narrow ledge
Wall
run past the narrow shaft to the ledge. The Prince notices a vertically sliding
ring on the wall.

Maybe that ring will do something.
That ring. Let’s try that
Jump
to the sliding ring. Your weight will slide the ring down causing a square plate
on the wall lowering to the vertical narrow shaft underneath. The plate contains
a narrow ledge.

Hanging from the ring will lower the plate
Prince:
We should be able to reach the ledge on
that wood now. This Tower is a bit like Ahriman. Run down, forgotten and
difficult to figure out.
Jump
to the narrow shaft, climb up and jump up to the narrow ledge. Shimmy left and
prepare a wall run. Move fast because some Corruption is surrounding you.

Prepare a wall run to the narrow ledge
Wall
run to the narrow ledge and shimmy left. Wall run to the ledge.

To the cornering ledge
Prince:
If we turn that crank, then we can line
the ledges up to where we need to go.

As simple as that?
Prince:
It is if you trust me.
Hold
the crank and rotate it clockwise. The crank rotates the circular plate on the
wall. The narrow shaft in the plate has turned vertical.

We did it.
Elika:
I gave you moral support.
Prince: Ready to go?
Elika: Yes, definitely. Trust you
completely.
Prince: Let’s jump for it.
All
the time you hear some growling in the background. Guess that must be The
Warrior waiting for you on the Fertile Ground...
Wall run
to the narrow shaft in the plate. Climb up and notice an L-shaped narrow shaft
above you.

On top of the narrow shaft in the plate
Jump
up and climb up, pass the corner and shimmy right. Wall run to the ledge on your
right.

Wall run to the ledge
Prince:
Is this how you ran the City? They worked,
you watched?
Elika: That’s me, a bureaucratic
voyeur.
Prince: That’s sarcasm, isn’t it?
You know, knowing fancy words doesn’t make you clever.
Elika: You didn’t get it, did you?
Prince: You have to judge your
audience. I didn’t get it. That makes me right and you wrong.
Elika: What?
Prince: Telling a joke I can’t get
doesn’t mean you’re clever.
Elika: Huh?
Prince: If you can’t communicate
what you...
oh I get it, yeah, very clever. Well done. Shall we climb this Tower?

Ha-ha-ha
Prince:
Great, now she thinks she’s funny.
It’s a good thing I’m here, I mean what would you have done without me?
Elika: Oh, I’d probably have curled
up in the corner and cried. I’m the pathetic, useless type.
Prince: More sarcasm.
Elika: I am grateful you stayed,
honestly.
Prince: See? Now how do I know when
you’re being straight and when you’re being sarcastic? This next bit looks
tricky.
Elika: Worried you might break a nail?
Prince: There you go. Now that’s
humor. Doesn’t look like you’ll get to see much of the inside after all. No
sign of The Warrior, do you think he’ll leave us be? Ahriman’s Tower? Hey,
if we manage to pull this off, will you build me a Tower? I think I’d like
that.

There is a vertically sliding ring on the
wall
Prince:
I think we need to use that ring. If we
can get to the ledge on that wood we can get across...
Elika:
There has to be a way up.
Prince: Is that hope or expectation...
? Let’s use that ring switch.
Run
up to the ring and slide it down. This will cause two square plates to lower
from the wall, each with a narrow ledge in the middle.

Two narrow ledges are lowering
Jump
to the vertical narrow shaft and climb up. Wall run left to the first narrow
ledge.

Hanging from the first narrow ledge
Wall
run past the second narrow ledge to the ledge with the crank.
Elika:
Just seeing if you were paying attention.
Prince: Any suggestions?
Elika: We need to find a way to go up.
Prince: Thanks, thanks for that.
The
Prince is watching the plates on the wall.

This is different. Give me a moment,
I’ll figure it.
Elika:
This Tower must have been amazing in its
day.
Prince: Okay, I can’t figure it.
Elika: The plate is up there, under
that walkway. We just need to find a route up to it.
Prince: If there is one.
Elika: Let’s see what that crank
does.
Prince: How are we supposed to get up
there?
Elika: If we lined the ledges on those
round grills up we could use them to climb.
The puzzle requires logical thinking and some geometrical anticipation. First have a good look at the wall.

Observe the initial setup
There
are two round plates each with an L-shaped narrow shaft and two square plates
each with a narrow ledge. Then notice a ledge on your left with a crank and a
vertically sliding ring on the wall.
You
can easily wall run between both
ledges.
A
small experiment teaches you:
-
the
left crank turns the left round plate in opposite sense
-
the
right crank turns both round plates in equal sense
-
pulling
down the sliding ring lowers the narrow ledges
First
you have to pull the sliding ring to have a better idea of how to turn the round
plates. Wall run to the left ledge.

Wall run to the left ledge
Wall
run up to the ring. Your weight will lower the ring and both square plates with
narrow ledges.

Lower the square plates
Prince:
That ring switch has moved those wooden
things down...
I think there are handholds on them. When you rebuild this place...
find a different architect.
Now you have a better look at the configuration. The round plates have to be lined up with the narrow ledges.
Grab
the crank for a half turn (push or pull twice - the sense doesn’t matter).

The left round plate makes a half turn
Wall run back to the right ledge and turn the crank clockwise.

Both round plates turn clockwise
Prince:
That should give us a way up.
