Jump
to the ledge and pull up to enter the shaft.

Jump into the shaft
You
will have to chimney jump high up in this shaft. A chimney jump constitutes a
number of wall to wall jumps that take you higher up in the shaft. However, when
the Prince jumps to a wall he will also add a short vertical wall run like
you’re already used to. With respect to chimney jumping I will call this
combination a high jump.
In short, a high jump is a jump to the opposite wall + a short wall climbing.
At
the end of the wall run the Prince will then drop down unless you press green
for a next high jump.
It
is a matter of “feeling” when you have to press green for the next
high jump. The higher you jump off the wall, the lesser the amount of high jumps
you have to do.
Two
high jumps starting from the floor will bring you to a first narrow ledge (they
come in pairs – on each wall)

You
are hanging from the narrow ledge.
Jump
to the opposite narrow ledge and press green + LAS forward to wall run
up. Jump off and continue jumping high until you hang from a second narrow
ledge.

Rup
up and make some high jumps to a third narrow ledge. You should hang from the
left narrow ledge - if not, jump to that ledge.

Shimmy
around the corner to the far left and let go to the ledge below.



Shimmy left and drop to the ledge
You’re
in a short tunnel. This is a Save Checkpoint. Walk to the other side on your
left and wall run to a narrow ledge.



Wall run to the first narrow
ledge
Wall run to the second narrow ledge on your right and shimmy right around the corner.



Prepare another wall run from the second ledge
Wall
run, jump off the wall to the perpendicular wall and you’ll keep wall running
to a narrow ledge.




Your way to the third narrow ledge
Shimmy
right around the corner, wall run and jump off to a large platform.

Prince:
Do you think he’s planning a surprise for us?
Elika:
I don’t think he’s interested in us. It’s the Fertile Ground.
Prince:
True, I think I’d actually be more
comfortable if he attacked us.
Then
the Prince refers to the balloons hanging in the sky:

What’s keeping these things in the
sky? Ahriman?
Elika:
No, these are the Alchemist’s work.
Prince:
These things are incredible. You think we
could use them to fly?
Elika:
Once this is over, they should be
destroyed.
Prince:
Why do you want to destroy them?
Elika:
What is born of evil carries its touch.
This land should be purged.
You
are at the Construction Yard now.
Walk to a slightly higher platform on your right and notice there are two ways
you can follow. Ask Elika and her Flare will show you the way to the Fertile
Ground. The other way with the protruding beam leads to Reservoir, a neighboring Land.


The way you should follow first

The path to Reservoir
Jump
across the stream of black goo and notice you can wall run to a green Power
Plate.

Wall run to the green Power Plate
Press
yellow to wall run up to the second Plate.



Up to the second Plate
Continue
to the third Plate and use LAS to follow the path

Launch from the second Plate

Steer left


Run up to the third Plate
Run
from the third Plate up to a platform.



From the third Plate to a higher platform
In
a small cut scene the balloons are lifting a rock with a platform: the Fertile
Ground. Elika explains:


He’s tearing the Land apart
Prince:
He doesn’t care about us. He’s trying
to destroy the Fertile Ground.

We will have to go up there to get
across
Elika
is referring to the square of 4 platforms in front of the Fertile Ground.
At
this Checkpoint you may save the Game.
Turn
left and notice a narrow wooden wall with two rings. Use the rings to climb up.

Pull up, walk to the end of the narrow beam and jump to the opposite narrow beam with Elika’s help. This beam protrudes from one of the platforms clustered round a square.

You
can see that each of these four wooden platforms has a crank that can be turned.
The Prince is now referring to the narrow beams protruding from these square
platforms:
We
should be able to get across if we get these beams lined up.
But
Elika seems more worried:

We have to hurry...
...I don’t know how long the Fertile Ground can survive. If he destroys the
Fertile Ground...
Prince:
I can’t see the Alchemist.
Elika:
He must be close. We have to get to the
Fertile Ground.

The jump is too big.
Elika:
That beam there is longer than the others.
Could you use that?
Prince:
Let’s line it up and find out. I can’t
see a way across.
Elika:
If we can rotate these platforms we can
line the beams up. Then jump to the other platforms.
Prince:
I see what you mean, Machinery is evil.
Elika:
We can get across the platforms, it’s
just the final jump across to the Fertile Ground that’s going to be tricky.
Prince:
That longer beam that would get us across,
if we lined it up. You could’ve made these easier to reach.
Elika:
The Fertile Grounds were made a thousand
years ago, I didn’t put them anywhere.
Okay,
now you know bits and pieces about this puzzle:
Your
goal is to get the longest beam aligned with the beam protruding from the
Fertile Ground and jump across.
In
order to do this you have to turn the cranks. A turn means a rotation through 90
degrees, clockwise or counter-clockwise.
To
make a turn approach a crank and press red. Elika and the Prince will
both grip the crank. Then you will see a panoramic view from above with the four
platforms. Use LAS to move the crank.
If
you start doing this randomly there are a million of possibilities and suddenly
you will find yourself on the longest beam in front the Fertile Ground. Among
the many trials I found to get this puzzle solved, here is the shortest one
[screenshots were taken after the turn(s)].
Start
a turn on this first platform:

Clockwise (1x)
Jump to the platform on your left with Elika’s help.

To the platform on your left
Hold
the crank:

Clockwise (1x)
Jump
with Elika’s help to the platform on the top right of the screen. This
platform is different: it has 4 grated metal corners.



To the platform
on your right
Hold
the crank:

Clockwise (1x)
This crank turns all four platforms.
Now
you must go to the platform on your right with the long protruding beam. Jump
(with Elika’s help) to the one in front (as seen on the previous screenshot).
Hold the crank:

Go
to the platform on your right with Elika’s help. Hold the crank:

Clockwise (1x)
Jump
to the platform with the large beam (this time without Elika’s help).
Hold the crank:

Clockwise (2x)
There.
Good work.
Walk
to the end of the long beam and jump to the beam of the Fertile Ground with
Elika’s help. As soon as you land the balloons loosen the hanging rock and fly
into the air.

The Alchemist appears for a new battle.

It’s not that you cannot understand...
...it’s that you do not even question. Knowledge enlightens, you close your eyes in blind faith!
There
are two efficient combos against The Alchemist:
[combo
1] yellow – blue
[combo
2] yellow – red – blue
If
you perform a suite of combos like [1] – [2] – [1] you can inflict a serious
damage to The Alchemist.
He
also often changes colors:
-
black:
press yellow (Elika’s magic attack)
-
blue:
attack with blue (sword stroke)
If
you happen to get him close to the edge your last blue stroke of a combo
will push him off the edge. You got rid of him – for the time being.
When Elika is standing under the blue light beam press yellow repeatedly.


Preparing the healing
The
wonderful transformation will then start:
